Privacy Policy
Noticeboard (noticeboard.school) is a communication platform that schools offer to their parent communities. This policy explains, in plain language, what data we handle and why. We designed Noticeboard to collect as little as possible: there are no ads, no tracking pixels, no data sales, and no student accounts.
Who is responsible for your data
Your school decides to use Noticeboard and controls who is invited; for member and student records the school acts as the data controller, and Noticeboard acts as a processor on its behalf. Noticeboard is responsible for operating the platform securely. A data processing agreement is available to every school on request.
What we collect
Account data: your name, email address, role (parent, teacher, moderator, or school office), password (stored as a secure hash), and preferred reading language. Community content: posts, comments, event RSVPs, reactions, and moderation decisions. Children: the school may record a child’s name and class so it can link guardians to the right groups. Children never have accounts and never log in. We also record which posts your account has opened, so schools can see whether announcements reach families; this is reported to schools in aggregate.
What we use it for
Only to run the service: showing the right feed to the right people, delivering notices and digest emails, translating content into your chosen language, and keeping the community safe through moderation. We never use your data for advertising or profiling, and we never sell it.
Where your data lives
All data is stored in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany, on Supabase infrastructure). Automatic translation and summaries are processed by Mistral AI on servers in the EU. Content sent for translation is not used to train models.
How long we keep it
For as long as your school uses Noticeboard and your account is active. If your account is deleted, your personal data is removed; if a school leaves, its data is deleted after a short wind-down period agreed with the school.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how it is handled. Write to hello@noticeboard.school or ask your school office, and we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your national data protection authority (in Lithuania, the State Data Protection Inspectorate).
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. There are no analytics or advertising cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, your school will be notified and the date above will be updated.
